Who are Occupational Scientists?
At this point in time, about 30 to 40% of occupational scientists are from fields such as sociology and anthropology, business and administration, health sciences, and others. Currently, the majority of occupational scientists are occupational therapists and occupational therapy educators/researchers.
Occupational scientists are interested in enhancing understanding of the everyday occupations human beings engage in within a variety of life realms (e.g. work, leisure, parenting, etc.). Occupational science examines the contributions of occupation to individuals and collectives (e.g. health, identity, collective capacity) and the issues that influence the occupations individuals and collectives want to, need to and are able to engage in.
